Taking lead from BM's question in the Serie A thread, it would be interesting to get calcio fan's view on who are the top 10 strikers in Serie A... let me ponder a bit before I post my top 10.

It would be very, very difficult I must say. Dare I say it, the Serie A is the most blessed league when it comes to the sheer number of good strikers per team. Di Michelle and Bianchi are the starting strikers for Torino in Serie B FFS!

It's a bit like asking "what are the best looking women in a gay club"

Is that amazing? They're there because they aren't very good anymore aren't they? It's a bit like saying Nicky Butt is playing in the championship.

Theyre better than anyone Stoke have playing upfront.

The top 10 (or rather 12):
1. Totti
2. Milito
3. Amauri
4. Cassano
5. Eto'o
6. Mutu
7. Miccoli
8. Di Natale
9. Gilardino / Mascara
10. Vucinic / Iaquinta
I can't find space for Quagliarella, Floccari, Ronaldinho, Trezeguat, Pellisier, Del Piero, Rocchi, Pandev etc coz I have gone with a blend of their best current and previous season's performances. Yeah, I know Amauri is probably higher than he should be (he has had a shite 2009) but I do rate him highly.
Emerging talent (25 & Under) top 10 (11ish?):
1. Pato
2. Jovetic
3. Zarate
4. Balotelli
5. Lavezzi
6. Cavani
7. Pazzini
8. Sanchez
9. Palladino
10. Barretto / Bojinov
Again, couldn't find a place for Osvaldo, Lanzafame, Nene, Paloschi, Biabiany, Acquafresca, Morimoto, etc...
Its tough.... strikers is the toughest area to choose from in Serie A these days. I am sure I missed out some, and will change my mind soon.

Kimbo, just coz the EPL top 4 are better than their Serie A counterparts does not mean that all the talent plays in england.... I agree with BM, Serie A these days has the deepest talent in strikers. Midfielders, its probbaly between La Liga & EPL, defenders is probably EPL.
As for the Nicky butt comparison, Bianchi is 26 yrs old and just a couple of years back City paid 13m for him. How much would 34 yr old Nicky Butt fetch?
7 Fenomeno, on 01/12/2009 at 16:53
There are hell lot of strikers (both experienced and emerging) in Serie A. It's very difficult for me to pick top 10.

8 Black Magic, on 01/12/2009 at 16:53
And you didnt even mention the guy that had 25 goals last season out of the THIRTY EIGHT names you mentioned. Mental.
I'll do a list when I've got a bit of free time at work or when I get back home.

I didn't say all the talent was in England, just that the names Di Michelle and Bianchi don't impress me.

Tuncay isn't really 'playing' though is he mate? Has he started a game this season?
Yes, Tuncay slipped my mind
12 Fenomeno, on 01/12/2009 at 16:56
Tuncay is very talented. but some of it is being wasted by Tony fucking Pulis.

Bianchi may not be a top striker, but he is definately too good for second division.
14 Kimbo, on 01/12/2009 at 16:57
It's not his fault he has a Clive Woodward wannabe as a coach.

They're certainly not Serie B class players. There is such an influx of quality strikers about in the league that they're services arent required by any of the top flight teams - That was the point I was getting at.
I just remembered Cavani and Adailton. There are over 40 good to World Class strikers in Serie A.

It tough mate. Di vaio may have scored 24 goals last season, but he is not as good as the 20 names I have mentioned in the first list..... and I can't put him in the emerging talent list either....
there are so many names I didn't mention... its a tough call, woudl love to see yr list.

Butt wouldn't fetch anything, he's shit, this is my point. The Butt comparison was more to do with Di Michelle, Bianchi is probably more like Barton, still young but living off things he did years ago.
18 Fenomeno, on 01/12/2009 at 17:02
What did Barton do years ago? Apart from poking cigarette butt into someone's eyes...

Played football well for a couple of seasons at City. I recognize this is insignificant compared to the glorious achievements of Rolando Bianchi though.

Only about 3 or 4 of them are world class though

123456Well, football season is back, and so is the Serie A, which starts next weekend.
No doubt Sparky will be the key contributer to this thread, but I will try and chip in as much as possible, and hopefuly others do too! I dont have a team in the Serie A,
Was just watching Real Madrid TV. They were talking about Ruuds goal record and how his goals per game ratio was better than Raul and Ronaldo.
Ruud is one of the best strikers over the last 10 years but who are the other 9 in your opinion?
Also, if
Whether you think its 'better' or not i would say serie a is offerin more entertaining football this season. Even the teams struggling at the foot of the table are trying to play footie unlike stoke et al
