Just want to draw attention to the new gw lotr produsts being released this october for the fallen realms. Besides the 2 new wraiths (which are lovely and shown below), what else can we expect. Looking throught the fallen realms army list in the WoTR rulebook, some typical miniautures would include:
Haradrim taskmaster and hornblower blister pack
Haradrim commanders set (3 minis including army banner, chieftain and hornblower)
serpent guard chieftain mounted and foot blister
serpent guard banner bearer (foot and mounted blister)
Khandish command set (cheiftain, banner, hornblower)
Easterling commanders (captain, banner, drummer)
Easterling Dragon knight blister (foot and mounted perhaps)
Easterling War priest bliser (foot and mounted or just on foot is likely)
alternatively, a dragon knight and war priest 2 man blister could be possible.
Mahud Commanders set or bliser (featuring a hornblower, banner, chieftain or king)
Black numenorean commander and banner bearer command blister, or foot and mounted (again)
Queen Beruthiel Miniature - VERY likely IMO.
these are likely, some or none of these will be seen in this years releases.
Some sound promising, and some recent lotr sculpts have been amazing so i think we are in for a treat!

I must say, I'm interested in a potential Easterling War Priest figure, and the Wraiths aren't bad looking either.
I'm also interested if there will be a plastic set, and if so, of what? The existing Khandish figures are great IMO, but does GW really think they would make good plastics (I guess if they made the Army of the Dead into plastic, Khand is highly likely)

their recent plastics have been rather good, better than the 'old' ones. the army of the dead and galadhrim are very good.
I would love khand, and i personally see it as very possible, but people keep saying that GW have no plans for khandish warriors - if this is true, then its an opportunity missed by GW.

Indeed, but since I don't have a problem with the metals (and prefer metal figures over plastic ones), I'll buy a ton of the metals when the time comes for next year's army challenge!

4 Corsair, on 03/09/2009 at 00:13
Well, both plastics and metals have pros and cons, the main being cost to buy en masse, and the quality difference.
on the note of next years army challenge, i hope to join if i have nothing else planned.

Too bad we can't get all MoME members who are in on the comp together for a tournament...seeing all those lovely painted armies would be nice

I think i9 would like to see Plastic Mumad warriors more than Khandish warriors. Khand only really brings Chariots to the field and nothing else as the rest are pointless. The haradrim and Corsirs have better archers and even the easterlings. The "handed weapons are not bad but i would go for them jsut for that, also i hate Having to use a twohanded weapon and not beign able to use a sword. There Calary is also the worst light cavlary in my opion as you can't use twohande weapons on horseback and there are better mounted bowmen and they are all metal (Unlike the Haradrim raiders)

You can in WoTR

You may want to re-check the rules for Khand Jaws. The Khandish horsmen all have bows - none of them have two-handed weapons in SBG, and unlike Clansmen, their profiles don't say 'unarmed except for two-handed weapon' which means that under the ORB, they technically have handweapons.

Really looking forward to this release, the Wraiths are very nice and alot of the incoming miniatures sound great.

I would really like Mahud warriors in plastic along with camel riders although anything at all is good if it'll get LoTR space on WD.

I just noticed that today while i was compating Eorl to Eomer. This means that they are all unarmed or forced to use a 2HW(Which only a few have)

Nice find. Curse that website, give me pics!

15 Dînadan, on 07/09/2009 at 22:54
Hmm, maybe the golden king will be on some sort of throne? :/
Either way, the Emir's Court set from Perry miniatures would probably be a better option

nice set. Love the prisoner there...SLIT HIS THROAT style! ;-)

From rumours I've seen on O-R, the Golden King will indeed be on a throne ala Zerkses from 300 style.
And from the looks of it, no plastic Khand, nor any plastic sets or Khand stuff of any kind
Interested in seeing the Easterling Command though...maybe we'll be getting that War Priest and Dragon Knight

the War prist and the Dragon knights are a must if they are doing fallen relams for WOTR. We also get a whole pile of SBG rules too.
